Examining Transit Accessibility for Families With Young Children in San Francisco

Description: This thesis investigates transit accessibility for families with young children (eleven years old and younger) in San Francisco. Using a mixed methods approach, this exploratory study aims to better understand the travel behaviors of San Francisco parents with young children, the role that transit infrastructure and accessibility play in their lives, and what influences parents’ choices about whether or not to take transit to get around with their children. The aim of this research is to begin to identify possible strategies that San Francisco could implement to encourage and ease travel for parents who want to use public transportation to travel with their children.
